It’s early January and now we are getting lots of snow in southern Norway. Temperature was quite mild in December, no snow at all. And lot of rain! This week was good though with -15C average.
I always feel nostalgic in winter, about my only winter in Urasa. Urasa area is called the Yuki Guni or Snow Country in the famous novel of Yasunari Kawabata. Though not very cold as here, Urasa and vicinity is famous for its mountain high snow fall. They say the cold air comes from Eastern Russia, Siberia particularly, gets blocked at the Japanese Alps and falls on western side of Japan making the place perfect for winter sports activities.

Back to present! Here snowy days are gloomy, grey. But sometimes it is bright and sunny. Waiting for those days…
Hope it will come soon..
Where are all the people!
